I just got back from a short vacay with the XYL. She allowed me some time this afternoon to assemble my desk. Coincidently, we stopped at IKEA first and I found some bolt-on legs that were precisely the proper height as my pre-welded front legs. So, I bought legs which would support the back edge. Prior to that visit I was going to bolt a length og angle-iron to the basement's concrete wall. i.e. drilling thru the concrete
But , after having discussed drilling a perfectly good wall with a fellow ham, ( Lou ) I decided to use legs on the back of the desk. If the wall doesn't leak, I should leave it alone. Thanks to his suggestion I found an improved manner to support the desk's significant weight. It's 10' length of countertop is supported in the front by a semi-concealed frame that I constructed from 1.5" angle-iron.
The previous shack arrangement was a hodge-podge of desks and workbenches. I had a weak appearance on QRZ. At least now this is starting to look like a real "shack" or 'Funkraum'. i.e. Funken Zimmer.
To Kris, KA2OIG, take a look at those Drakes stacked and ready to go.
Still not as nice as most of you have, but, I'm getting there.
